– These chewy vitamins are OK tasting. They smell OK too. Neither is something I would “write home about” but they are not bad at all. The gummy is coated in little bits of sugar to make it look like a candy. They gummy is a mid-firm gummy with a decent chew and meltability. Like I said the taste is OK – sort of fruity. So I like them as they are easy to take to get my Lutein! I especially like to take Lutein and Zeaxanthin when I have “tired eyes” from looking at computer screens too long – I notice that these ingredients REALLY DO make a difference for my eyes. REALLY! – While I might not be strict about it, I confess that I’d rather not eat boiled down pig feet. Yes, that’s what gelatin is. Therefore, that would be most gummies. Unless they are kosher, and then it would be cow feet. Like I said, I’m not strict about it, but I do like the fact that these are vegetarian friendly.
These gummies taste great. The gummy texture comes from natural pectin and tapioca.
I was diagnosed with macular degeneration in the very early stages. The ophthalmologist recommended taking an AREDS 2 formulation, which is a combination of proven components to help slow progression of the disease. AREDS 2 contains zinc, which can sometimes bother my stomach. This still has the lutein and lutemax 2020, so on certain days I can keep up with my nutritional protection without sacrificing my stomach.
The taste? Pleasant enough, but very sweet.
